London, England – Music, Fashion, Princes And Princesses
what’s the destination?
what it’s famous for…
Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and The Royals, The London Bridge, Topshop, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Bloc Party, The Police, Erasure, Paul Oakenfold… ok, and so many rockstars we can’t even cover it all.
have we been there?
nope, but we wanna go sooo bad – especially to the summer olympics being held there in 2012!
why we wanna go there...
London is so amazing because it's this city that has these super deep roots in old world tradition like kings and queens and princes and princesses, while simultaneously being on the cutting edge of all things new and trendy like fashion and music. we think it's the perfect blend of fairytale and future.
the music scene
again, we can't remotely list all of the music awesomeness to come out of the London scene, much less the entire UK in general, but we know that tons of the bands we're obsessively obsessed with are from the new school British Invasion. like we mentioned, Bloc Party, Erasure, The Police, Coldplay, and Paul Oakenfold from London... The Kooks from Brighton, Depeche Mode from Essex, Tears for Fears from Bath, and even though us Tennessee girls technically get to take credit for Kings Of Leon... UK pretty much gets the credit for their career. :)
what we wanna do in london...
» gush all over the royalty
cliché - smiché, we were OBSSESSED with the Royal Wedding, and we think Wills and Kate are the cutest thing ever, so we won't apologize... we wanna go gush over all-things-royal, so Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Kensington Palace, and Hyde Park here we come!
» olympic park
we get realllly fanatical about The Olympics - any Olympics - every Olympics - summer, winter, whatev... we're super big dorks about it, and it would be a dream come true to go to the 2012 Olympics.
» shopping in notting hill
we wanna go shopping of course, but not somewhere that just has all of the same places we could raid in the US. Notting Hill is known for it's vintage clothing stores, cute gift shops, old book stores, organic food vendors, designer shops, boho boutiques, cafes and art galleries.
» hit the music scene
restaurant, bar, pub, or massive festival in the park... we just wanna drown in some amazing music, and totally rock n' roll our faces off.
London is chilly, so make sure you layer it up, or wear thick fabrics. go for fall colors, muted shades, blacks, grays, blues, browns, etc. but also, don't be afraid to go edgy, funky, or a little hipster.
if you're venturing out for a night of rock & roll, embrace the London music history with vintage rockstar fashion. go for black on black, band tees, leather jackets, sexy skinny jeans, and chunky boots.
Student Countryside Chic
for daytime cuteness, think the english countryside, influenced by the halls of Cambridge. a university inspired cardigan, plaid messenger bag, and knee highs, mixed with houndstooth shorts and riding boots.
