why we're buzzing…

we love that Avril has always had a really strong style stance. she was one of the first celebrities of our generation to put a girlie and fashionable twist on "punk rock skater kid". we kind of feel like we have her to thank for the abundance of adorable hoodies and surf & skate style clothing brands everywhere today.

we love her strong female energy, and that she is so motivated, creative, and talented. she has made such a huge mark for herself, and she started it all before she could vote!

her style influence

if people want to divide the world up into categories, and put labels on people, we're definitely not in the same style "niche" as Avril Lavigne, but to us, labels don't matter, and we take style inspiration from anywhere we fancy :D.

we've always admired Avril's full on commitment to who she is stylistically. she for sure has the tomboy thing going on, but she has always known the perfect way to put an adorable vibe on it. her style softens the line between punk attitude and feminine charm.

for girlie girls like us, she has opened the door for our style to go casual and even a little bit edgy, but not have us losing ourselves, or trying to be something we're not. In the 90's clothing lines like Hurley, Element, and Billabong, or stores like Hot Topic were purely for girls who were fully committed to a "Skate Kid" or "Punk Rock Kid" or "Goth Girl" image. with style icons like Avril changing things up, those types of more casual streetwear brands and harder rock edge stores have broadened their clothing lines to appeal to edgy girls, and girlie girls alike.

Abbey Dawn for Kohl's

Avril was one of the first celebrities to start working with Kohl's by creating a celebrity inspired fashion line that has been made affordable and available to girls everywhere. she has said she intentionally wanted her style to be made affordable to her actual fans, so the pieces range from $24 - $48. it's the perfect mix of punk rock chic, skate kid, and trendy teen fashion. the line even recently launched an Alice In Wonderland theme collection. in even bigger news, her line made it's debut at Fashion Week in New York last year.

Abbey Dawn is sold at Kohl's in the USA and at Boathouse in Canada. in the UK, some items can be found at TJ Maxx stores, and there is an official Abbey Dawn store in Tokyo, Japan.

the name of the line "Abbey Dawn" comes from a nickname Avril's father gave her as kid, so the fashion line is truly a personal labor of love for her.
