"I officially opened just about six months ago, but spent many months prior preparing. It is my goal with AniqueMichelle.com to provide great pieces that can be easily worked into everyone's closets at a great price. I aim to improve upon things that I dislike in other online stores; for example I try to make my product descriptions and photos as descriptive as possible to really give my customers a true idea of what they are buying. Also I find that online shopping can be a cold and impersonal shopping experience so I personally sign every packing slip and include a candy necklace or a ring pop as a little thank you :)"

How would you describe your own personal style?

Anique Michelle:

I love color, texture and interesting details. I try to stay away from super trendy items because I find that they don't always work in seamlessly into a persons closet. I like classics with a twist.

Pretty Princess Girls:

Do you have any designers, fashion icons, or clothing lines that inspire your business or your own style?

Anique Michelle:

I tend to be drawn to truly wearable lines and designers. On the high-end I love Bottega Veneta and Phillip Lim (he is also a CSULB alumn) for the lovely details in their pieces. The interior designer, Kelly Wearstler is absolutely fabulous in my book! I love, love, love her personal style and her use of color, patterns and how she isn't afraid to incorporate a quirky element to her outfit.

Our very favorite things at Aniquemichelle.com are all of the Headbands for sure - so adorable, the 'Gypsy Queen', the 'Cold Shoulder', and the 'Warm Regards'. Do you have a very favorite thing in your store?

Anique Michelle:

I absolutely love them all! At the moment I am favoring The 'Iconic Jacket' and 'The Lady Bird Necklace'.

Pretty Princess Girls:

Do you get to have one of everything we see on your website for yourself ;)?

Anique Michelle:

Yes - I have no self control!!

Pretty Princess Girls:

Do you run your business all on your own? Like handle the website, the products, the photography, etc?

Anique Michelle:

I do run everything on my own but I do get help from my amazing boyfriend. He is a great graphic designer and created all of my graphics and layout for the boutique in addition to helping with photography. You've got to take advantage of your resources, right?!

We think your involvement in charity is awesome! Tell us about the organizations you support.

Anique Michelle:

I believe it is super important to help others in any way that you can whether is it with your time or money. 10% of all profits from sales at Anique Michelle get divided to support the following charities/organizations:

• The ASPCA - which works at preventing cruelty against animals.
• The American Cancer Society - their goal is to prevent cancer through research but they also focus on public education, advocacy and education.
• Dress for Success - their mission is to provide support and profession attire to disadvantaged women.
• The Hunger Project - works towards truly ending the problem of world hunger.

Well, we think it's super cool in that "pay it forward" kind of way :). It's like your accessories and clothing pass along positive energy with each sale!

Anique Michelle is a beautiful name - one translation we found of the two names together is "Angel of Grace". Michelle is also Krissie's middle name, ha ha. With a name like Anique Michelle were you just destined to be involved fashion and working with beautiful things?

Anique Michelle:

My parents will love that you guys like my name - I will pass along the compliment. I guess in some ways I might have been destined from the beginning. I have a distinct memory of being in kindergarten wearing a little pink Guess outfit with pink cowboy boots (amazing, right?!) and having a friend compliment me on my outfit and realizing what an impact fashion could have on a person and that began my lifelong love story with fashion.

Ha ha - that is an amazing fashion awakening.

Well, when you're not busy being a fashionista and a business woman, what else do you love doing?

Anique Michelle:

Family, friends, my boyfriend and God are very important to me, so enjoy spending time with them whenever I can. I love doing dinners out, yoga, happy hour, reading, weekend getaways, beach days and snuggling with my kitties Vincet and Cleo.

What would you like to see in the future for Aniquemichelle.com?

Anique Michelle:

I would love for AniqueMichelle to be the go-to place for girls to discover their new favorite purchase. In addition to AniqueMichelle, I have plans for three additional stores but you've got to start your retail empire one store at a time!
