21 Male Rock Vocalists We Can’t Live Without
what’s the crush?
21 Male Rock Vocalists We Can’t Live Without.
why we’re crushing…
being in tune, on key, having perfect pitch or a legitimately solid voice have never been requirements of a rock ‘n roll front man (cough, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jim Morrison). having a sound, a vibe, a unique tone or even the newest and strangest swagger have been more than enough to make it in the lead vocalist game since rock’s early days.
while a ton of our favorite bands totally fall in the “cool just cause it’s so odd” category, we’re still super stoked on our generation’s caliber of rock vocalist.
the PPG picks...
at the risk of weakening their music cred, we picked out 21 vocalists whose voices rate instrument worthy in our book. they inspire us, give us chills, and we pretty much can't live without 'em... (we obviously have a soft spot for tenors...)
one of our favorite singer-songwriters fo-shiz.
easily the greatest vocalist to leave the music industry waaaay too soon.
Copeland, The Lulls In Traffic
copeland = SO missed.
Mae, Sky's the Limit
if rock were a water colored symphony, it would be mae. this band is beyond perfection live.
brilliant lyrical poet. our. favorite. ever.
if 'Sweet and Low' doesn't make your guts squirly, you're ca-razy.
Kings Of Leon
dirty, gritty, southern, and no matter what this week's "too cool" indie blogger says... he's still got the swagga.
no amount of youtube kids crying "over discovery" of this guy can kill our fascination with his music.
when you grow up dreaming about a song being sung to you, this is totally how it sounds.
Depeche Mode, Martin Gore
strange, weird, quirky...beautiful, angelic.
Between The Trees
another good one gone in 2010 :(. RIP BTT.
Snow Patrol, The Reindeer Section
one of the classic big, bold, "epics".
his tone makes girls jealoussss.
Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate, Andrew McMahon
the perfect blend of vulnerable choir kid writing songs in his room, and big voiced rockstar kicking a' and taking names.
The Appleseed Cast, Old Canes, Hundred Hands
such a flawless voice coming out of such a hardcore looking dude. he could totally beat up your brother, then sing you to sleep right after.
our generation's old soul, and a reminder of music genius from before our time.
Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever, Chris Carrabba
all the angst and romance of your guy best friend that's crushing on you, and all the passion of the boy you're crushing on.
we can't listen to a single deas vail song and not be completely inspired.
The Rocket Summer
he sings what we feel, and he sings it how we feel it, and he melts our faces off all the while.
he's got a lock on 'the voice you go to' when you need you heart mended or your soul lifted.
every girl's soulmate in a song.
