water. seriously? just water? yup.
the baby steps of health…
sometimes being healthy can seem like a lot of work. eat this – don’t eat that – work out this much – take these vitamins – do this cleanse. It can be overwhelming at times and make you just wanna go eat junk food and be over it! but instead of giving up, we say… try the baby steps! like start with just making sure you drink enough water!
how much is enough?

why drink water anyways?

well, your body is 55% to 75% water, so you need to nourish what your body is made of! water also cleans out your system, combats fatigue and headaches from dehydration, helps your body assimilate nutrients, assists metabolism in burning calories, helps clear skin, and in general water just supports your entire body.
getting yourself to start drinking water...
it's not as easy as it sounds for most people. people get busy and don't have water around, or they just forget, or for some people... water is just boring, ha ha. it doesn't taste like anything so it's hard to want to drink it! that's why we put together a few tips here to make water easier to drink... and even some recipes to make it yummy!
get a thermos or bottle...
get a reusable thermos or a water bottle that you can refill. but make it a habit to always have one with you. that's really the first step - just having water around.
the 15 minute sip...
the best way to create a water habit in your life is to start with "the 15 minute sip". in other words, make it a goal to just take a sip of water every 15 minutes. it will get you used to remembering to drink some, and it will work it into your life easily without you feeling water logged or overwhelmed by it.
drink it lukewarm...
room temperature water may not be for everyone, but we actually find it's easier to drink a lot more if it's not extremely cold. especially in the winter when you're not thirsty from the heat.
yummy water recipes...
if the whole "water is boring" thing is your biggest challenge, then here are some yummy water ideas...
lemon water
easy. cheap. healthy. simple. just cut up a lemon, and put a slice in your glass. we actually ask for this at restaurants. lemon juice is also known to have antibacterial properties and helps clean toxins out of your body.
mint water
get some peppermint or spearmint leaves. twist or bruise 1 cup of the mint into a half-gallon container. fill with fresh, cool water. chill in refrigerator. strain and enjoy! it's super refreshing, and peppermint also settles your tummy.
dilluted flavored water or juice
if you can't go for straight water, then make a 2/3 mix. so take some all natural, 100% juice or a low sugar, flavored water and fill up 1/3 of your bottle. then fill the other 2/3 with plain water. you'll get yourself to drink more water, and you'll still have some fruity flavor to make you want to drink it.
so take your first baby step to being healthier, and go get a glass of water :D .
