why we're inspired...
we believe in first doing what you're passionate about in life. we also believe in giving back and helping others. when you put the 2 together, it's more powerful, and has more impact than either could on their own.
Wear Your Music...
'Wear Your Music' is a line of Rock’n’Roll and guitar string jewelry that is combining their passion for music and fashion, with philanthropy and giving back. they donate a portion of their proceeds to charities that benefit animals, the environment, music, and people in need.
the start of it all…
Hannah Garrison was already making bracelets from used guitar strings for her musician friends and their families. then, media executive Steve Bernstein was seeking out an original way for guitar strings to be used in advertising. he posted an ad on Craigslist that read: “Do you have any ideas for interesting products made with guitar strings?" which Hannah responded to, and that was the beginning! so it started with something Hannah was already passionate about, and has become something much bigger.
what are the Wear Your Music' bracelets?

the 'Wear Your Music Artists Bracelets' are guitar string bracelets that are handmade from recycled fine silver and guitar strings used and donated by some amazing music artists. to name a few... Avril Lavigne, Ben Harper, Benji Madden, Bryan Adams, Carlos Santana, David Cook, Eric Clapton, Jack Johnson, Jake Wambold, Jason Mraz, Joan Jett, Jonny Lang, Mike Ness, Nick Harmer, and a ton more!
the 'Wear Your Music Fashion Bracelets' are also made from real guitar strings, and they come in all different colors!
the beauty of 'Wear Your Music', is that with the money made from the sale of the guitar string bracelets, they donate to charities. with the 'Artists Bracelets', 100% of the profits are donated to a charity the artist chooses. with the 'Fashion Bracelets', a portion of the profits are donated to charities that support music. to name a few of the amazing charities they donate to... MusiCares, 1% For the Planet, Rock the Earth, Starlight Children's Foundation, unicef, Living Lands and Waters, Born Free USA, and Rock and Wrap It Up.

the interview…
We asked 'Wear Your Music' Co-President, Hannah Garrison, a little bit about her business, and a little bit about her!
Pretty Princess Girls:
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! We feel like 'Wear Your Music' is one of the most inspiring organizations we've seen that could motivate our generation. We're so completely stoked about your philosophies, and how much you've accomplished. The roster of artists involved with "Wear Your Music' is breathtaking! When you look at everything that has come about, what do you think you pinch yourself about the most... the amount of unbelievably amazing artists who've become involved, or how much good is being done as a result of the the charities you have been able to give support to?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
We think it's really great to have created an outlet for all of these busy musicians to donate to charity without much being asked of them. We just get their trash. The whole "turning trash into treasure" concept is our favorite!

Pretty Princess Girls:
It's kind of amazing that this all started with an idea and a craigslist posting. It seems like there was a little bit of destiny working with the fact that you were already creating the jewelry and Steve Bernstein was pretty much looking for someone doing something exactly along those lines. When you first contacted him, did you have any clue what would transpire?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
I don't think either of us had a finite feeling of what would transpire. We were just excited, which is usually a signal you are on to something awesome! I was especially lucky, since I was a young woman just starting out my career. It was very inspiring to work with someone as accomplished as Steve and have him put as much faith in me as he did.
Pretty Princess Girls:
When the project first got started, how intimidating was it to approach music artists about getting involved before 'Wear Your Music' had the recognition it does now?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
No matter what we have to stay humble. We've always believed in the project, so we never really felt "intimidated" at all. It helps to work on something you truly believe in!
Pretty Princess Girls:
Now that you are so busy, do you still actually physically make the products? And does it ever make you nervous when you're working with say... Eric Clapton's guitar strings haha?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
I myself (Hannah) certainly don't make quite as many bracelets as I used to. My role in the company had changed over time so that now I am sitting here at a computer answering your questions rather then in the studio making bracelets. I still, however, make them on occasion as well as inspect other craftsmanship. We only hire people who's quality of work we trust implicitly. Our whole team is really awesome and gives just as much attention and care to a Clapton string as we do to someone who had a bracelet made from their own strings. Trust really makes for a nice working environment.
Pretty Princess Girls:
We know all the charities 'Wear Your Music' supports are amazing, but are there any that hold a special place in your heart that you are super stoked about becoming involved with?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
We love ALL our charities! Right now I am very much supporting the charities that put instruments back in school.
Pretty Princess Girls:
Have there been any bracelets from any musicians that you couldn't resist buying for yourself haha?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
Of course! And for my family. "Ohmygod you have strings from..." is a very common saying just before holiday season. :)
Pretty Princess Girls:
And speaking of your personal favorites, what bands or artists are essential to the soundtrack of your life?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
Oh gosh, that's a tough one. It changes, it is fluid. I swing from folk to hip hop to country to punk. Right now I'm between old Pixies and Elliot Smith if that makes any sense.
Pretty Princess Girls:
In case kids are interested in getting involved with the fundraising opportunity, can they do it for any group? Like cheerleading, a sports team, glee club, mathletes even?
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
Absolutely! The fundraising project is WONDERFUL and can even be done for small projects (raising money for an abroad trip, to help out the family of a classmate, etc.) The best part is there is NO upfront cost. It makes it totally easy for any school/individual.
Pretty Princess Girls:
Lastly, what are your hopes and dreams for the future of 'Wear Your Music?'
Hannah Garrison - Co-President, Wear Your Music:
Well, right now we are in a bit of a transition time. Half or our office is pregnant. So my number one hope is for healthy babies. After that we have some great new products that will be launching. We also hope to continue to expand the fundraising program as schools lose more and more funding for the arts. That's WYM, making differences small and large!

I am the executive director of a foundation that was formed in the memory and honor of my son. We support young musicians aged 21 and under who aspire a career in the music industry. Your products offer a wonderful fundraising opportunity, especially as merchandise pieces for our shows and for our (nearly opened) web store.
I was wondering if you offer special prices for non profit organizations or, as you learn more about us, would possibly consider partnering with us. I would love to discuss this with you. Please visit our website http://www.theprojectmatters.org to see what we’re all about.
Looking forward to hearing from you
