pretty thoughts
jenna and cameron love this quote for the metaphor factor, and krissie and ashlee take it literal. however you take it... it's inspiring :D.
jenna
i totally take this as a metaphor for life in general. i think we're born innocent, we're born believing in things, we're born with passion and love and all these beautiful ways of seeing life and ourselves. then negativity is shown to us as we grow up. i love this quote because i feel like he's saying that everything is beautiful and amazing and magical, and it's just perspective that gets skewed as we grow up. if it's skewed towards the negative, it can always be unskewed back towards the positive.
cameron
i see it that way too. negativity becomes habit for people, and it overpowers truth. i believe the beautiful stuff... music, love, laughter, art, beauty... that's what is real.
krissie
because i'm a dancer, i take this at face value. since i was 3 years old, i can remember dancing... for no reason. i was choreographing already at 5. it just came natural like it's what i was just meant to do. and dance class was the best place i could ever go. tap class, ballet class, jazz class, gymnastics - whatever. dance class was my favorite! but pretty early on, chaos entered my life... and chaos can become a barrier to the things you love, and to who you really are. i stayed in dance in different ways, with class, and cheerleading, and choreography... but i lost that pure connection with it. a few things happened in my life with my health and an injury, and dancing was completely taken from me all together. but i just recently started to see it's supposed to be happening this way. i'm starting all over again with dance - like when i was 3. i can only do little things... but with those baby steps, i'm remembering that feeling of when i danced just because.
ashlee
i take it pretty literal too. i love cheerleading, and i love to dance, but unlike krissie haha, it doesn't come as natural to me. i actually have to work at choreography. i'm kinda used to just being good at physical stuff, so i get frustrated when things are hard! cheerleading and dance are things i love, but sometimes i end up judging myself for how i do them. i love this quote because it makes me think of when you're a kid and you don't even think about that judgment. you're just free. and you just dance because.
